Crescent Beach / Ocean Park
Everything You Want, in a Neighbourhood
The village of Crescent Beach is located just south of the mouth of the Nicomekl River. Amongst all the communities in the lower mainland, Crescent Beach has retained most of its classic charm over the pressures of time. This quaint community has conserved its identity through a persistent rejection of rezoning and modern development. Originally the location of cabins and cottage homes, you will now see a mix of the charming old and newly traditional constructed homes.
Ocean Park is located at the Southwestern tip of the peninsula. This family neighborhood is popular with young families and retirees alike. The homes in this area range from multimillion dollar estates on the bluff to established tree lines family developments. It is made up of mostly single family homes, however, a few strata multi-family complexes are near the Ocean Park Village.
Schools for all ages abound in and around Crescent Beach/Ocean Park. Crescent Park Elementary and Ocean Cliff both lie within its borders. If French Immersion is a preferred choice, Laronde Elementary offers such school and is central in this neighbourhood. Just over the borders but still within an easy commuting distance are the further elementary school offerings of Ray Shephard Elementary and Chantrell Elementary.
If private schools are more of a consideration, they are well represented within a short drive. Southridge School and White Rock Christian Academy offers education for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. In addition, for the youngest students the prestigious CEFA offers a Baby Program and Junior Kindergarten options.
In this westside neighbourhood most recreation focuses on the waterfront with Crescent Beach outdoor pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, beach volleyball, and the promenade for jogging/running, biking and the list goes on and on. The Crescent Beach Swimming Club offers activities like swimming, tennis, sailing, synchronized swimming, waterpolo and many other fun family-focussed programs and events. In the center of Crescent Beach sits Camp Alexandra, a community based program facility which has also been summer homes to countless generations of children and host to the village's festivals. In addition, Crescent Beach Marina is located at the tip of the Nicomekl River. The full-service marina offers access to the Gulf Islands and San Juan's, while providing sailors with accessible boating routes. There are a number of parks and trails to enjoy in the Ocean Park area including 101 Steps at the bottom of 24th Avenue and 1001 Steps at the end of 15A Avenue off 126A Street. There is also Kwomais Point Park in the area, which is a spectacular park perched on the top of the bluffs above Semiahmoo Bay. The park provides viewing opportunities across the bay to Tsawassen and beyond to Vancouver Island and the San Juan Islands. It has been newly renovated and is now equipped with two lodges that are used for community classes and events. The Ocean Park village also offers a community library, named the Ocean Park Library, which invites families and individuals to loan, read and enjoy books of all variety.
