Where Countryside Living and Urban Lifestyle Meet
Pacific Douglas is a growing community that has big plans in the works. Not only are there new homes popping up but proposals for shopping malls, schools and local activity centers are all in the works. This blooming future metropolis is backed by developers Summerfield to create an up and coming Pacific Douglas community full of local golf courses and parks for all.
At this point in time there are proposals for new local schools to be built but close by for the young children in the family one can choose from Halls Prairie Elementary, Pacific Heights Elementary, South Meridian Elementary, and Peace Arch Elementary. The closest high school would be Earl Marriott Secondary which is equipped for French immersion students.
If private schools are more of a consideration, they are well represented within a short distance. Southridge offers education for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
In the south of the area is the Peace Arch Provincial Park, a favourite for newlyweds to go and snap photos among the create views and sprawling flowers. Peace Arch Provincial Park is unique in BC's system of provincial parks. Its location straddles the 49th parallel, with its planning and development done in conjunction with Washington State Parks. With its formality of beautiful lawns and gardens, this park is like no other. Bird watching, picnicking, and dog walking are also popular in the park as there is room for all families to gather.
If golf is more of a passion for some, Hazelmere Golf Course is also located within the community and is host to many local tournaments. The club also offers four indoor tennis courts for members and the public. Peace Arch Portal Golf Course is also located in the same area and is an 18 hole, par 72 game with practice facilities include putting green, chipping green and grass practice area. A little more north one can find Meridian Gold Golf Par 3 which is a unique and challenging par 3 golf course.
Shopping and Restaurants
Since this primarily countryside community lies close to the US border, White Rock and Grandview Surrey, the best options for shopping are nearby with a quick drive. To the west one can find White Rock shopping which are a mix of local family owned businesses and a large variety of restaurants. In the north are the Morgan Crossing and Grandview Corners shopping areas with over 100 shops and restaurants.
